Statement of the German Academic Medicine on the terrorist attack on Israel

The news and images reaching us from Israel are shocking and move us deeply. The barbaric attack of the Hamas terrorists with murder, torture and kidnapping of children, women and men is inhuman. The German University Hospitals and the Medical Faculties strongly condemn this terrorist attack!

Thanks to the support of the Israeli Embassy in Berlin, we visited Israel in May this year with a group of representatives from the German university medicine, including Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) and Sheba Medical Center. In particular, we were able to learn about the development of digitalization in the Israeli health and science system. We were warmly welcomed by our Israeli hosts and have maintained a close exchange ever since. We are united by the goal of continuous improvement and innovation in medical teaching, research and patient care across borders.

With shock and compassion, we therefore stand by our Israeli colleagues in the country’s medical faculties and hospitals. We are ready to provide support at any time, should this become necessary.

Medically trained personnel from Germany can register on a list provided by the Israeli Ministry of Health to provide assistance when needed:
